Les Psy, vol. 7

Les Psy, vol. 7, by Bédu/Cauvin 6.5

Truth be told, I know very little about this series. This particular volume was given to me by a friend and I decided to give it a try because of its subject matter: psychiatry.

As a comic strip, it’s original. I certainly haven’t seen anything else like it: making light of the human condition through a therapist’s eyes is something I’ve only really seen on the screen before.

But the end result is only so-so. I love every concept presented here, but I don’t necessarily enjoy the directions they take. And I don’t find it very funny: at best, it’s amusing.

I do find the artwork rather appealing though. In fact, that may have been another draw for me (pun unintended! winking0002 Free Emoticons Winking). Aside from the lead character, I find the designs and overall rendering quite nice – albeit, a bit typical of similar French and Belgian strips.

I may someday be tempted to revisit ‘Les Psy’ (perhaps the earlier books were better?). But, as it stands, this book won’t see me take another couch trip anytime soon.

What do you think?
