The best action/comedy/musical ever made! (a category which probably only counts two nominees – if one can bear the agony of speaking the words ‘Hudson’ and ‘Hawk’ together, that is! ) 😉
It’s a simple story: two criminally-minded brothers set out to make 1000$ in a few days to save the orphanage they were raised in from being closed down.
But does it remain simple? Not quite!
On their journey, which is a mission from God (no less!), they trash a few dozen cars, a mall, rampage through city streets at over 100 miles an hour (in real time!), get almost blown up by a disgruntled girlfriend about a half-dozen times and also get chased around by swarms of police (and Army! and SWAT!), American Nazis and a peed off country band!!!
And, to top it all off, they cross paths with James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, John Lee Hooker – who all perform some of their all-time classics with a gusto you have to see to believe. PLUS the Blues Brothers performs a few booty-shaking numbers themselves.
Fantastic! Absolutely FANtastic!!!
