Erleuchtung garantiert 8.0

One brother dreams of going to a Zen monastery for quiet contemplation while the other, his life suddenly in shambles, decides to tag along. They get lost in Japan and both their lives take a turn.

This German movie was made on video, yet it looks and feels rather good – very professional. The humour is subtle and quite enjoyable, and the character arcs are a delight. Granted, it’s a slow movie (for some) and there is a lot of repetition and silence – but that’s entirely natural for a film about a Zen monastery, isn’t it?

What do you think?
