Scoop 7.5
I really enjoyed this movie, and I think that it returns Woody Allen to fine comedic form, but a lot of it seemed like déjà-vu. I mean, there are at the very least elements of ‘Manhattan Murder Mystery’ and ‘Shadows and Fog’ in here.
So, while I think it’s thoroughly enjoyable, and Woody Allen always treads the same waters in the first place, I can’t justify giving it a higher rating – especially in light of Scarlett Johansson’s over-acting and the somewhat unbelievable characters.
Still, it’s a fun time, one of the really good Woody Allen films and it’s absolutely accessible to most viewers. It’s worth the 90 mins.
