Synopsis: This romantic-comedy-drama follows the misadventures of Sammy Smalls (Cristin Milioti), a tomboy who works as a store detective at Big Apple Food Town. She’s crazy for scruffy street musician Eugene (Mark Rendall), who is perfect for her, but doesn’t want to be tied down in a relationship. After a disastrous one-night-stand, Eugene suggests they play the field to get more experience. So Sammy embarks on a sexual quest to become the ultimate lover. But will love still be waiting when she’s done? Year of the Carnivore takes you on a hilarious exploration of love, sex, and everything in between. It’s true that good love takes patience, but good sex, that takes practice!

Since it was directed by the offbeat, oft-daring, Sook-Yin Lee, I assumed that this supposed sex dramedy would have bite. Sadly, none of its elements (acting, script, cinematography, soudtrack, …etc) were engaging so I have very little to say about it.
It’s not a terrible film, per se (if it were, I could at least rant at length), but there’s really nothing for me to recommend it – it’s all very “meh”. For the insatiably curious only.
