Children of the Damned 7.5

A very worthy successor to the original. In fact, it’s a great sequel, in that it doesn’t just rehash the first story – it takes us to the logical next step in the concept (something the original Planet of the Apes series attempted to do, but failed miserably at).

In doing so, also delves into the darkness at the heart of humankind – it makes us look head on at our fears, our desire for power, our inability to accept the unknown.. It also puts us face to face with the possibility of extinction at the hands of stronger forces, of wars between peoples and the misuse of power.

It’s by no means perfect: the first 30 mins are certainly the best part and the mid section feels a bit static, but the ending makes up for it. I’m very happy to have seen this – despite my initial reservations 🙂
