Synopsis: Two Strangers, No Strings Attached…Everything To Lose
What starts out as a weekly anonymous tryst between a divorced man and a married woman turns into a searing portrait of loneliness and emotional need. Directed by Patrice Chereau (Queen Margot), Intimacy won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2001 Berlin Film Festival where lead actress, Kerry Fox also won Best Actress Award. Based on Hanif Kureishi’s controversial novel, Intimacy was selected to play at the Sundance and New York Film Festivals.

Intimacy 5.5
Maybe I just didn’t get something here, but none of the characters’ emotional turmoil affected me in any way. I would’ve loved to see this one with the group and discuss it – if only to muddle my way through some of my puzzlement
(as a side-note, am I the only person who is sort of surprised to see actors get really intimate in movies? I mean, I’m seeing more and more legitimate films in which the actors don’t even fake it. The first real instance of it that I can remember is ‘Brown Bunny’, but there’s just so many examples of that lately.
Geez… talk about blurring the line between reality and fiction!
