Sean Penn is really amazing in this. I guess he was honing his acting chops earlier than I remembered – I thought it had started with Dead Man Walking, but I was wrong. Dead wrong *snort*

Al Pacino is bearable here – he doesn’t shout too much and he does have a few nice scenes. Penelope Ann Miller is really weak compared to the two of them, however; she delivered almost all her lines as though she’d been at the dentist just beforehand. *sighs*

Anyway, the movie has a couple of ‘Hollywood’ moments in it (including the end) but, overall, it’s a rather enjoyable way to spend two and half hours. If you like organized crime stories, of course
